We recognise that some residents have been adversely affected by AB Internet’s intention to place the company into administration and so the council has intervened. We are working directly with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s body ‘Broadband Delivery UK’ (BDUK), Welsh Government and others to ensure the continuation of the existing service until a new buyer is found.
We will continue to work closely with all partners regarding the long term viability of the infrastructure. Meanwhile, we hope that the company can be sold as a going concern and its customers suffer minimum inconvenience. In the interim, here are some suggestions that may provide you a short term solution.
The following technologies rely on the availability of either 3G or 4G mobile coverage in your area.

Monmouthshire Business and Enterprise collaborate with the UK Government, the Welsh Government and Internet Service Providers to seek the best Broadband provision possible across the County.
The County of Monmouthshire benefits from the Superfast Cymru broadband roll out programme which will be completed in the summer of 2017. The Superfast Cymru website provides information on when and where superfast broadband will be available to residents in the County.
The superfast broadband is being delivered by British Telecom (BT), however, it is a competitive market and other Internet Service Providers offer their superfast broadband services in the County as well.
Residents are encouraged to visit the Superfast Cymru website and to sign up for updates to get the latest information on when superfast broadband will be available where you live.
The Access Broadband Cymru scheme provides grants to help improve broadband in Wales.
The scheme complements the Superfast Cymru programme where the Welsh Government is working in partnership with BT to deliver fast fibre broadband across Wales. If you are not yet able to receive superfast broadband then you may be able to get connected via our Access Broadband Cymru scheme.
This scheme provides grants to fund (or part-fund) the installation costs of new broadband connections for homes in Wales. It does not include monthly rental costs. New connections through this scheme must deliver a step change in speed – with at least double your current download speeds eg a current connection of 10Mbps must improve to at least 20Mbps.
The amount of funding you can receive depends on the speed of the new connection:
