Here are some suggestions that may provide you a short term solution.

The following technologies rely on the availability of either 3G or 4G mobile coverage in your area.
First of all you will need to check the availability of mobile services which can be done via this website OFCOM Coverage Checker

Three Home Router £0.60 per Gb of data

Vodafone Dongles £0.60 per Gb of data

O2 Dongles £0.75 per Mb of data

EE Dongles £0.80 per Mb of data

EE 4GEE  Mobile data service with a variety of plans from £25/month to £65/month.  Antenna installation currently £100 one off charge.

Getting your communities together to make your own solution

Funding is available through the Rural Development Programme, in particular the Rural Communities Development Fund.  The particular scheme is measure 7.3 and all details can be found through the link here.  Up to £128,000 is available as grant aid to develop your own broadband infrastructure.  The next Expression of Interest (EOI) window opens 5th April 2018.   You may have concerns about the application process, but we at Monmouthshire County Council are here to help.  Your first step is to locate your local Community Councillor and ask to be involved with an application.  Ask them to get in touch with us to start the process.

Monmouthshire County Council has been successful in securing a grant through this fund which covers premises in the Mid-Monmouthshire area, between Monmouth, Abergavenny and Raglan.  Complete the form below to see if you may be included in this project.

Monmouthshire Business and Enterprise collaborate with the UK Government, the Welsh Government and Internet Service Providers to seek the best Broadband provision possible across the County.

The County of Monmouthshire benefitted from the Superfast Cymru broadband roll out programme which was completed December 31st 2017. The next phase of this scheme is likely to open towards the end of 2018 and will run until the end of 2020.  Currently £80M is available to cover the remaining white areas in Wales.  The superfast broadband second phase will be delivered through an open competitive tender so that Internet Service Providers as well as BT can offer their superfast broadband services in the County.

Residents are encouraged to visit the Superfast Cymru website and to sign up for updates to get the latest information on when superfast broadband will be available where you live.

Access Broadband Cymru

The Access Broadband Cymru (ABC) scheme provides grants to help improve broadband in Wales.

The scheme complements the Superfast Cymru programme where the Welsh Government is working in partnership with BT to deliver fast fibre broadband across Wales. If you are not yet able to receive superfast broadband then you may be able to get connected via their Access Broadband Cymru scheme.

This scheme provides grants to fund (or part-fund) the installation costs of new broadband connections for homes in Wales. It does not include monthly rental costs. New connections through this scheme must deliver a step change in speed – with at least double your current download speeds eg a current connection of 10Mbps must improve to at least 20Mbps.

The amount of funding you can receive depends on the speed of the new connection:

  • £400 voucher for 10Mbps or 20Mbps service
  • £800 voucher for 30Mbps service.
