Creative Communities Toolkit
Aims of this project
The funding will employ a part time community enabler who will work with rural communities, creating a guide on how to capture ideas and turn them into working schemes, outlining goals to achieve within a given area.
The post holder will:
• Develop a “Creative Communities Kit”
• Market the development of schemes within rural communities
• Engage, building relationships and trust, to assist in strengthening resilient, sustainable communities
• Assist the development of new collaborative ways of working within those communities.
• Research past and current initiatives to ensure any lessons learnt are considered and that new methods implemented are successful.
What will the project achieve
This project will run over a two year period and will provide a ‘Creative Communities Toolkit’ that will assist rural communities in Newport and Monmouthshire to become more resilient and sustainable. The kit will guide community groups through the process of setting priorities for their areas, allowing and encouraging them to take ownership of the community where they work, live and play and thereby combining the characteristics required to create a ‘sense of place’ and strengthening the rural communities values and futures.
The application for this project was approved by the LAG on 19th October 2016. The project is due to start in January 2017 and will run for a two year period to the end of 2018.
Total cost of the project
£58,000 (RDP amount: £46,000)
